River HomeLink Programs

Kindergarten through 12th grade

River HomeLink has many different programs to meet the various needs of our students and families. Students learn from anywhere and at their own pace. Certificated teachers are directly tied to student success through in-person advising. All programs meet district graduation requirements.

HBI= Home-Based Instruction. River HomeLink’s Home-Based Instruction (HBI) program is designed for families who desire total autonomy over their educational journey. In this model, you are your student’s primary teacher. You have the ultimate freedom to select and implement the curriculum that best aligns with your family’s values and your child’s unique learning style.

The PrimeLink Program is a comprehensive partnership designed to empower K-8 families who have chosen the rewarding path of primary home-based education. We bridge the gap between independent learning and professional academic support, ensuring your child thrives in a personalized environment.

In the CoreLink Program, students meet two days per week for instruction in reading, writing, language, speaking and listening with continued study and completion of assignments expected at home.  Students must take a math class at River HomeLink as a requirement to be in CoreLink. Enrollment in CoreLink students are given greater opportunities to create a safe atmosphere of respect and the development of positive teacher/student relationships through individualized instruction and smaller class sizes.

In the 7th and 8th-grade program, students may select from core and elective courses including Art, English Language Arts, History, Math, Physical Education, Science, and Theater Basics. The program is designed to prepare students for high school by allowing them to transition between teachers and classes, while learning to manage their time and classwork.

ClassLink Grades 1-2. is a hands-on, engaging learning program designed for first and second grade students. Students are most successful when they are developing foundational skills such as holding a pencil comfortably, writing their name, forming letters, and beginning to read simple words. As the year progresses, students continue building phonics skills, sounding out simple words (like cat or dog), and growing their sight-word vocabulary.

Exploring Arts and Culture (EAC) Grades 1-3 and 4-8. A two-day-a-week humanities class designed to introduce and strengthen student understanding of our culturally diverse, interdependent world.

LitLink 3/4 is a literacy-focused, 2-day, parent- partnered educational model intended to provide students with an engaging learning experience that complements those found in the home environment.

STEMLink, ELA, Tech / Social Studies and Science, Grades 5-6 is on a 2 year rotation schedule and is a parent-partnered STEM (Science Technology Engineering, and Math) educational model in which students attend classes two days per week and receive instruction at home three days per week. Parents and teachers share the teaching responsibilities. Students are full time students of Battle Ground Public Schools.

High School Program. High School students have many learning options including on-site school, not just online.

The goal of River HomeLink High School is to help students meet the requirements of earning their Battle Ground School District diploma, including earning credits in classes through a combination of at-school and at-home learning, preparing for graduation-requirement assessments, and completing their “High School and Beyond” plan. In each class, students will attempt to earn credit toward their High School Diploma by demonstrating proficiency in subject-area-specific standards through coursework and assessments.

River HomeLink High School site-based classes require the same amount of learning time per course as a traditional high school. The time spent at school in class with a teacher is only two days per week, and each course requires the student’s parent to oversee the additional three days per week of learning time and teacher-assigned work outside of class.

Shared classes with other schools, like BGVA, CASEE, CTA, and Clark College, are available and can be requested through your advisor. In remote classes, the student’s parent assumes primary responsibility for managing the entire teacher-approved course of study outside of a traditional classroom setting, with the oversight and guidance of the certificated classroom teacher. Remote families will need to meet with the certificated teacher of the course at least once per month in addition to regularly scheduled advising obligations.
