CASEE Envirothon 2023

Students from the Center for Agriculture, Science and Environmental Education traveled to Olympia, Washington, on April 25 to compete in the regional Envirothon. The natural resources competition focuses on the subject areas of soil, aquatics, wildlife and forestry, as well as current issues. Students work in teams to take a written test on a content area and participate in a hands-on event involving tree identification and using forest industry tools; identifying skulls, tracks, wildlife and macroinvertebrates; and conducting water quality and soil texture and nutrient tests. CASEE students placed first in soils, first in wildlife, second in forestry and first place overall out of 13 teams.

CASEE Envirothon 2023 2

On May 24, students will travel to the Soundview Camp and Retreat Center on Key Peninsula for the Washington state Envirothon. They’ll participate in leadership and natural resources activities and events and test their knowledge. Winners of that event will travel to Tantramar, New Brunswick, to compete in the National Envirothon.
